Chocolate Yummies

For Patrick and Christina, or anyone else who enjoys a little marshmallow, chocolate, peanut butter, etc.

7 Graham Craker rectangles
2 1/2 c. mini marshmallows
1 pkg. (12 oz. or 2 cups) semi-sweet chocolate morsels
2/3 c. light corn syrup
3 T. butter or margarine
1/2 c. crunchy peanut butter
3 c. Rice Crispies

1. Coat 9x13 microwave safe dish with cooking spray. Arrange graham crackers in a single layer over bottom of dish, breaking crackers as needed. Sprinkle with marshamallows.
2. Microwave on high about 1 min. or until marshamallows are puffy. Cool completely.
3. In 2 quart microwave safe bowl combine chocolate chips, corn syrup and butter. Microwave on high about 1 min 30 sec. or until chocolate is melted, stirring every 30 sec. Stir in peanut butter. Add rice crispies, mix until combined.
4. Spread evenly over marshmallows. Cover and refrigerate about 1 hr. or until firm.

Recovered

I had some requests to remove the "abused child" photo from the front of my blog. I just wanted all to know that the wounds have healed nicely (only slight scarring, but they are possibly from the suntan) and we have avoided any further face accidents. He did tip on a hammock last week and that left a large green bruise on the side of his head, but thankfully, it is not visible in this picture. He is currently a very healthy and happy 2 year old.

Family Filled Fourth of July

Of course as a tradition for those of us who live in Lewiston, family flocks from near and far to participate in the festivities on the 4th of July. John's brothers were all in town to watch the parade, bar-b-q, play softball, and watch the fireworks. We had a great time visiting with family and playing with our cousins. It was a nice day, but with enough clouds and breeze to take the edge off the heat. Kade loved the parade. It is so fun to watch the kids enjoy the day. As usual, I didn't take many pictures but here are a few of the family.

Bear Lake

It's been awhile since I've posted--too much going on and too little time. We enjoyed a week or so with my brother Tyler. We tried to keep the kids entertained and everybody fed. Tyler and Tara had never been to Bear Lake so we drove over there on the 3rd to catch a few hours of sand and sun (a little too much for Tyler). We went to the north beach. There was plenty of room but unfortunately the sand was a little swampy. The water was wonderful. Kade played and played in the sand and it made me think I might be able to do Priest Lake with him this year. After we got home it was the last minute rush to get ready for the 4th. Groceries, dinner, softball games, and house cleaning were all on the list. The black and white photos are an experiment (I got a new camera).

A rough week...

Warning all 2 year olds: accidents happen!

Wed. Scratch wounds inflicted by a fellow 2 year old.

Thurs. Running too fast on asphalt at Dad's softball game.

Sat. Puncture wound to the lip by the cupboard door (being nursed in this picture--stitches? We couldn't decide, there was blood in his mouth that we couldn't find the source of.)

I was embarrassed to take him to church today and sure enough, there were questions asked. We all know how crazy little 2 year old boys can be. I just hope this one survives it all!

Cedar City, Summer Games, and St. George

I wanted to get an action shot of Zack playing soccer. Unfortunately I only ended up with this picture where I believe Zack just took a very hard-kicked ball to the cheek. These were Zack's last games with this team. We were all sad after the last game as we knew we would never be all together again. It has been a really good group of kids and friends. From now on Zack will be on a North Logan team, the Strikers. We look forward to lots of good times with this team too. All in all, we had a great vacation!

This is the house where we were able to stay with friends for the week. The subdivision had a very nice pool, which we frequented throughout the week.










We headed down to St. George for a little vacation and because Zack's soccer team was competing in the summer games (they are a big deal here in Utah). We were able to enjoy lots of fun parks--there seemed to be one in every neighborhood. The kids had a great time. It made me mad that we don't even have 1 nice park here in our community.
