Halloween Recital

I haven't dressed up for Halloween in approximately 20 years (boring, I know) but this year I had a Halloween Recital where all my piano students dressed up and played spooky songs. Everyone did so well and then we enjoyed some really tasty treats. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of all the cute kids, but here is a picture of me ( costume courtesy of my neighbor Cindy).

Matching Cousins

My sister and her kids are here visiting for the week while her husband goes hunting. The pumpkin walk, crafts, and sugar cookies are just a few of the things on our agenda. Just a little picture of McKena and Campbelle in their matching church outfits. We love to have visitors!

First Day of School-6 weeks late!

Computer Woes

If I wanted to give anyone advice about owning a laptop that you wanted to last the only advice I would give is "Shut the screen when you are not using it and don't let boys (at any age from 2-10) swing a Magnetix (magnetic balls) configuration over the top of previously mentioned screen." Unfortunately, I have had to learn this lesson the hard way. So, our main computer is out of commission until we decide to suck it up and buy a replacement screen for our poor cracked and magnetized screen. John wanted to make this purchase the following day--I insisted that we won't learn to appreciate and take care of our things unless we live without them for awhile. So this is the reason for lack of posts--I can't even load my pictures onto my ancient desktop (I'm sure there is a way, but I have yet to take the time to figure it out).

In other news, we did get our kindergartner started and she seems to be loving it. I am trying to adjust to getting breakfast cleaned up and probably one other job done and then having to get lunch ready so that I can feed her at 11:30. Kade is trying to adjust to 2 lunches, one with McKena and one when dad comes home an hour later. It's tough, but he's up for it. It makes him extra ready for his afternoon nap during which, all the sudden after 10 years, I have a few hours to do whatever I want. Don't ask what I've accomplished, it's not much. I better get used to it though, because I took the kids to the dentist today and got in trouble because Kade still has his binky. I just can't take it away--I know that will be the end of naps as we know them.

Zack and Colin are also going strong in school. They both like their teachers and seem to be getting their work done because they have not been bringing home much homework. They have grumbled and groaned about picking McKena up after school and getting her home safely but there are many privileges riding on her arriving at home happy and safe. Piano lessons are in full swing for me now--20 students. So far, so good.

First Day 2008

So it was with much anticipation and fanfare (you can tell from the picture can't you?) that we sent these boys off to their first day of school today. Zack starting 5th grade (his last year at elementary) and Colin starting 3rd. Kade makes the cut just because he gave a good cheezy smile. We are not sending Kade to school yet. He'll be my only company come afternoons next week, when McKena starts kindergarten.

"Ballerining"

We officially have a dancer at our house--it's about time after all these boys' things we've been doing. McKena was so excited to for her first day of dance. I signed her up on Saturday and it started on Monday--I fielded about a million questions of when it would be time to go to "ballerining." I think she's officially at that age where they have no concept of time yet always need to know when it's time to go. For instance, she knows she supposed to start kindergarten, but our kindergarten starts a full week after her brothers do, so how many questions about the timing of that do you think I'll get to answer? I'm sure that previous sentence is not grammatically correct but I don't have the energy to word it better right now.
