Wipe-out!

I think if you asked Zack he would not recommend going up to the top of a steep paved hill and racing down on a scooter without making sure that your brakes are in fine working order first. This happened within the first hour of our little trip to Bear Lake, on his way down to the swimming pool. His poor hands and elbows were really bruised and scraped up (these pictures do not do them justice). Only one of his legs got scraped up. Thank goodness we had a first aid kit in our van--I've always known that we would need it someday. And--this accident did not stop him from swimming and having a great time!

April

Here are the last of the only pictures I have taken the last month. The first is a picture of McKena's new bedding. It doesn't really match the purple on her walls but it doesn't seem to clash either. I'm not up to any painting jobs anytime soon. The second is our yard today during the 5 hour snow storm. Luckily, nothing stuck. It was a gorgeous 75 degrees yesterday and then 40 today. I am looking forward to spring days--this spring they are few and far between. We had spring break last weekend so we went up to Bear Lake with friends. We stayed in a condo at Harbor Village -- we mostly swam and played games. We had a good time. Yesterday was so nice the kids spent a good 10 hours outdoors--how nice! They all got a good start on their tans (okay, so they were a little red last night).

Rice Crispy Treats

So this is how pathetic I am. Both of my sisters and their kids came from Washington and we did all kinds of fun things and this is the only picture I took the entire time! We had a great time visiting parks, playing in the backyard (even though it was still 40 degrees), eating out, shopping, and occasionally making treats like these that were extra sticky. I'm so thankful for sisters and cousins that come to play!

The Pinewood Derby

Here you can see we have survived another pinewood derby (surprised?). We weren't much in the fast category but the boys had a good time helping John make the cars. They did look nice.

McKena's 5th Birthday

Notice the M&M's are missing from one end of the cake...weird.

We celebrated McKena's birthday over a couple of days this year. On Friday morning, before school, we let McKena open her presents so that Zack and Colin could watch. Imagine their disappointment when there was only clothes, Barbies, and High School Musical items to be found. Girl things I guess. Then John and I took her to lunch at Firehouse Pizza where they get a free pizzookie (a cookie hot in a skillet with ice cream and syrup over top) when it's their birthday. At about 4 0'clock she got to go with her cousin to Salt Lake to see Disney's Princesses on Ice. What a fun day for her. Since I hadn't made a cake I made one on Sunday for us to sing to her. I think she is happy to be 5. Last week we got her registered for kindergarten so we are good to go!

Weekly snow melting update

Just to keep all updated on how much snow we still have in Lewiston. It snowed this morning, but nothing seems to be sticking, thank goodness!

Getting some exercise

This afternoon the kids were out enjoying our springlike temperatures (40 degrees) by playing a few quick games of "lightning" between piano lessons and TaVaci. It is nice with daylight savings to have it still be light and it has been nice to have it a little warmer, although you should notice the amount of snow that we still have in our backyard. It doesn't seem to be melting at all, but we are seeing some grass in the front yard. Yesterday McKena came in and said "Mom! You should see how much grass is out there!" It is surprising when you haven't seen it for months...
